The juice craze has been around for a hot minute. People swear by juicing to get their weight down and their nutrients in, but juicing also doesn't give everything a body needs. Juicing removes the pulp, which often contains fiber that fruits and veggies hold. At any rate, juicing can be quite beneficial, especially during the holiday season.
I am far from a typical juicer, and while I like my juice, I don't go out of my way to make fresh PJ or drinks every day, but the AMZChef Slow Juicer makes it a lot easier when I do! This is the perfect way to get my fruit in with a meal, have a wonderful cocktail, or even a nice smoothie.
The AMZChef Slow Juicer has several different models, but the ZM1902 is the perfect size for those of us who don't have a lot of kitchen space and may not be avid juicers, or have large juicing parties.
The ZM1902B juicer contains a 5.2 large chute for whole vegetables/ fruits, dual strainers, a large auger, and two cups for collecting the juice and pulp. The juicer also came with a cleaning tool and a fush pusher tool.
The slow juicer is meant to extract juice from pieces of fruit fully, so that there's minimal pulp and minimal waste. Slow juicing, as opposed to regular juices, also crushes fruit and veggies slowly without heat, thus impacting the loss of minerals.
This juicer is easy to use and set up. I washed and cut tips off berries and grapes to make a fruit juice I would use for a mimosa type drink. I've learned that reading instructions does help before beginning any new process with any machine, so I reviewed all parts of the machine and instructions on how to use.
A handy card containing a QR code takes you to AMZChef recipes, so be sure to check out the great holiday cocktails/ mocktails and brunch drinks you could create this holiday season.
At first, I filled the juicer bowl with fruit to see what it would do. While it did successfully squeeze juice and create minimal pulp, instructions suggest reducing feeding speed for soft fruits. Afterward, I decided to see how it did by tossing in grapes one by one, as opposed to pressing a bunch together. More juice was extracted, so I do think that going "slow" (after all, it is a slow juicer) creates a larger yield too.
Some things to note: peel your veggies and fruits, remove pits & seeds, and cut up larger pieces (like celery stalks) for a better yield. Use the food pusher if things seem to be stuck and if you need too, remove the feeder to alleviate the stuck foods. The machine needs 10 minutes to rest between sets so that it doesn't burn out it's motor, so while you could easily create juice while you are doing other things, I wouldn't leave it for a long time.
The switches are on the back, which is kind of annoying, but it only goes on, off, or reverse, so they are easy to figure out even if you can't see them. Reverse can be used to solve clogging problems as well.
Once your juicing is complete, be sure to replace the anti drop cover as you remove your glass. Also, the juicer is tall enough that you could probably fit your own glass under the machine if desired.
The juicer is NOT meant for frozen foods, ice cubes, nuts, meats, coffee beans, etc. including cooked foods as well. Using fresh soft and hard fruits (with pits removed) are greatly beneficial. The juicer can extract juice from kale and spinach too, if that is your heart's desire.
Unfortunately, none of the parts are dishwasher safe, so the brush comes in handy to clean all the grooves and crevices, but everything is easy to dismantle. I did have trouble getting the base and the accesories disconnected at first, but I think it was just stuck a little bit from first use.
Since juicing already has sugars in it, you don't really need to add extra sweetness, but a dollop of honey goes a long way too! There are so many recipes out there that you will find exactly what your taste buds desire.
This holiday season, grab an AMZChef Slow Juicer for a wonderful brunch or fruity cocktail! This is a perfect gift for the juice lover in your family, or just a gadget to upgrade some of your older kitchenware. It's a great way to have fresh juice on hand for cocktails/ mocktails and other juicy brunch needs!
